Day 1: Flight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Havana, Cuba; airport greeting by guide; Walking tour of Old Havana; Lunch at cafe with political science professor/diplomat; Museum of the Revolution, Parque Central & Havana Fine Arts Museum; Welcome Cuba! Dinner at paladar (paladares are private, family-run restaurants - the engine for rapid growth in Cuba’s middle class); An evening of art and music at Fabrica de Arte Cubano.
Day 2: Breakfast; Cojimar (Ernest Hemingway’s adopted village), Finca Jesus; Cooking lesson at Ajiaco; Classic American car tour of greater Havana - ending along the Malecon; Tour and drinks at Hotel National, Cuban home to the mob, mafia and glitterati during Cuba’s “Roaring 50’s”, HQ of Fidel during the Revolution; Dinner at paladar; Late-night salsa dance at Club 1830.
Day 3: Breakfast; Tour Partagas Cigar Factory; Havana Club Rum store; Boat ride across the harbor to the community of Regla; Dinner at paladar; Buena Vista Social Club show.
Day 4: Breakfast; Drive to Vinales via the orchid gardens and river of the Soroa region; Lunch at Finca Agroecologica El Paraiso; horseback, oxcart or hiking the lush Vinales Valley with tobacco farm visit; Tour Vinales town; Dinner on a hilltop overlooking the Vinales Valley.
Day 5: Breakfast; Day trip to Cayo Jutias beach to roam island, swim, snorkel or hike; Lunch at cafe; Dinner at paladar.
Day 6: Breakfast; UNESCO Biosphere and Las Terrazas; Hike the rainforest at Las Terrazas with resident naturalist, zipline option; Visit home gallery of artist Lester Campa; Dinner at Paladar.
Day 7: Breakfast; Morning at Playa Tarara; Lunch at beach; Visit Fusterlandia, an imaginative neighborhood improvement project by the “Picasso of Cuba”, Jose Fuster; Tour the Spanish Colonial architecture of Cemetery de Colon (one of Cuba’s most visited sites); Farewell Cuba! Dinner at paladar; Tropicana Nightclub Show.
Day 8: Breakfast; Ernest Hemingway Estate, “Finca Vigia”; Transfer to Jose Marti International Airport to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
